DESCRIPTION:This online flex course provides students with an introduction to manufacturing\, including facilitating safe work practices in industrial environments and controlling and improving quality in a manufacturing setting. The course also covers fire safety\, pressurized gases\, electrical hazards\, and safe machine usage. Students will examine Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policy. Upon completion\, students will have the opportunity to earn the Safety Certification and the Quality Practices and Measurement Certification through the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC). \nStart dates for this self-paced class are as follows: \n\nJune 23\nJuly 7\n\nThis class ends August 17 for all students. \nPlease email swfi@vtc.edu or call 802-879-2348 for registration information.

DESCRIPTION:This online flex course introduces students to the manufacturing processes through an exploration of the basics of production. Students will explore the types of machining\, manufacturing planning\, production control\, and product distribution and will learn the product life cycle from conception through distribution. Over the course of five Fridays\, you’ll learn about: \n\nForests\, pastures and fields\, natural communities\, wetlands\, and the plants surrounding you every day.\nIdentifying trees\, grasses\, ferns and other vascular plants.\nWhy certain assemblages of plants grow together in a given area.\n\nYou’ll spend some mornings in the classroom studying botanical sciences\, prior to to going into the field. \n
