Set yourself up for success with the Certified Production Technician program.

In partnership with Community College of Vermont, we offer a Certified Production Technician program for Strengthening Working Family Initiative (SWFI) participants. By completing two courses, you can earn six college credits and four industry recognized credentials.

In addition, in spring 2021 we will offer a Safety Workshop as an alternative to our credit-bearing class options.

Principles of Manufacturing (3 credits)

In this course, you’ll get an introduction to manufacturing. This includes:

  • How to facilitate safe work practices in industrial environments and control and improve quality in a manufacturing setting
  • Fire safety, pressurized gases, electrical hazards, and safe machine usage
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policy

Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to earn the Safety Certification and the Quality Practices and Measurement Certification through the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC).

Manufacturing Technology (3 credits)

You’ll learn about manufacturing processes by exploring the basics of production, including:

  • Types of machining
  • Manufacturing planning
  • Production control
  • Product distribution
  • Product life cycle from conception through distribution

Upon completion, you’ll have the opportunity to earn the Manufacturing Processes and Production Certification, and the Maintenance Awareness Certification through the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC).

Prerequisite: successful completion of Principles of Manufacturing or at least one year of manufacturing experience required.

Safety Workshop

Learn about manufacturing safety in this eight-week workshop.
